Multi-instrumentalist and producer Jordan Rakei will be back in 2027 to perform his new album “A Safe Place To Be Wild” live. He will be performing on 9 April at La Rayonne in Lyon and on 10 April at the Bataclan in Paris.
Ten years after the release of his debut album “Cloak”, Jordan Rakei is embarking on a new chapter in his career with “A Safe Place To Be Wild”, his seventh album and his most free-spirited project to date. Born in New Zealand, raised in Australia and now based in London, the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer has established himself as one of the most distinctive figures on the contemporary soul, jazz and alternative scene. Over the course of six critically acclaimed albums, he has collaborated with artists such as Loyle Carner, Tom Misch, Bonobo, Disclosure and FKJ, whilst also being nominated for the 2025 Ivor Novello Awards for “The Loop”. On stage, Jordan Rakei is also renowned for his generous and meticulously orchestrated performances, which have taken him from festivals such as Glastonbury to two sold-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
With “A Safe Place To Be Wild”, Jordan Rakei breaks free from traditional production methods to recapture the spontaneity of his early days, when he used to compose freely in his bedroom. Inspired by a year-long residency at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and finalised in his own studio near London, the album is the result of an instinctive process where experimentation takes precedence over convention. The fourteen tracks flow effortlessly between soul, funk, jazz, pop, electronic and cinematic arrangements, revealing a sonic palette richer and bolder than ever before.
Deeply introspective, “A Safe Place To Be Wild” explores the themes of fatherhood, love, family, doubts and hope with disarming sincerity. “I’ve returned to the mindset I had at 13, when I made music purely for the joy of it, without worrying about what others thought,” says the artist. A true manifesto of creative freedom, this album marks the start of a new chapter for Jordan Rakei, who will be showcasing these new tracks on an extensive tour of the UK and Europe, once again confirming his status as a must-see artist, as captivating in the studio as he is on stage.
