Born from the digital bowels of an America saturated with noise and anxiety, Machine Girl is much more than just a band: it's a sonic deflagration, a frontal attack on contemporary torpor, a cybernetic trance where rage, raw electronics and punk spirit merge.
Founded in 2013 by Matt Stephensen, then joined by Sean Kelly on drums in 2015, the project recently became a trio with the arrival of Lucy Caputi, without losing any of its virulence. Their music, unclassifiable and disturbing, is a sensory shock where frenetic breakcore, abrasive hardcore, industrial techno and wild noise collide in a radical artistic gesture bordering on a manifesto.
From WLFGRL (2014) to U-Void Synthesizer (2020), Machine Girl has built up a body of work that is as coherent as it is protean, refusing to accept any formatting. In 2024, the band broke new ground with MG Ultra, a concept album on the theme of mind control. Their next opus, Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X), due in October 2025, ventures even further into the depths of the human soul, drawing inspiration from Jung, Campbell and the idea of a collective unconscious populated by shadows and archetypes.
In the age of the all-connected, when our minds are colonised by algorithms, Machine Girl uses music as a mental weapon. A resistance through noise, a dance on the ruins.
