About

MARCUS KING: MOOD SWINGS THE WORLD TOUR

Marcus King has today announced the release of his new Rick Rubin-produced album, Mood Swings, which will be out on 5 April via American/Republic Records. In support of the new album, Marcus King has also announced his 2024 headline tour of North America and Europe, produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, as well as dates supporting Chris Stapleton.

Mood Swings is King's magnum opus, an eclectic symphony of soul that is both timeless and contemporary. Drawing on King's darkest moments, it became a beacon of hope for King when he created it, and will be a refuge for all those going through similar trials in their lives.

Alongside the album announcement, King has released the track 'Mood Swings', the perfect introduction to an album that will redefine all perceived notions around Marcus King. The song burns with slow-burning electro drums and jazzy guitar, leaving space for King's voice to shine. He shares his innermost fears while drawing on the strength of vulnerability and honesty.

Mood Swings takes us in a very different sonic direction from his extensive catalogue of studio albums. It combines elements as diverse as modern pop, R&B, 80s hip hop, classic rock with piano, and the warm production and symphonic instrumentation of classic soul, R&B and jazz. The previously released 'F*ck My Life Up Again' is a significant departure from stadium rock, with strings building to a smoky jazz beat, while her soulful vocals proclaim "Come f*ck my life up again, don't deserve to live without pain". A guitar solo "played backwards" creates a great deal of confusion, compensated for by an unshakeable hook. On 'Hero', her crossover vocals rise above the acoustic guitar to reach a flamboyant crescendo. The same naked emotion defines "Delilah", where piano leads pop rock, and innovative tracks like "Inglewood Motel (Halestorm)" are a masterpiece of alternative R&B. The album closes with "Cadillac", steeped in psychedelic symphonic soul, a gripping tale of dark desires and suicidal ideation.

Don't miss the chance to discover all the emotion and energy of Mood Swings on stage at Le Bataclan.
